Questions, answered

How do I draw on my Mac screen?

Install Pointly, press the global hotkey (⌘⇧P), and your whole screen becomes a canvas — draw with the pen, highlighter, arrows, or shapes directly on top of any app, window, or presentation. Press the hotkey again to hide it.

Is Pointly free?

Yes — the core tools (pen, highlighter, marker, text, arrows, shapes, export) are free forever, no account needed. Pro tools like Laser Pointer, Spotlight, Callout, Step Badges, Fading Ink, Cut & Move, Countdown Timer, Presenter Cues & Zoom, and more are a €12.99/year subscription or a €39.99 one-time lifetime purchase (via In-App Purchase; prices include VAT).

Does it work over any app — Keynote, browsers, video calls?

Yes. Pointly is a transparent overlay, so you can annotate over Keynote, PowerPoint, browsers, code editors, PDFs — anything on screen. On video calls, just share your screen and your annotations are visible to everyone.

Can I use it for presentations and screen recordings?

That's what it's built for. The Laser Pointer and Spotlight guide your audience's eyes, Presenter Cues shows your clicks and keystrokes on screen, Presenter Zoom highlights fine details, and everything you draw shows up in screen recordings and screen shares.
